The development of the marine and coastal infrastructure and the possibilities of its exploitation are a very high priority of the Institute for Regional Strategies /IRS/.  This topic is very closely related to the quality of the tourist services offered in the sea resorts, as well as to the provision of alternative possibilities for transportation of passengers on the territory of the Black Sea region, the straits, and the Aegean Sea.

Our institute is currently working on a number of different projects related to the provision of additional specific infrastructure for marine transportation, its connection with the road network, and the planning of these activities within the coastal municipalities; also, these projects are directly related to the achievement of the goals of the general European transport policy on a regional level.

A very important aspect of our work is the establishment of a unified vision of the development of the south coastal areas of Bulgaria, which involves the description of the current situation and the defining of the volume of potential work and activities that are expected to be introduced in the area.
